Erofeev and Others” and Kolomna Old Merchant District Creative and Museum Cluster under support of the Culture Ministry of the Moscow Region are holding an open international competition among artists and writers to receive grants for the realisation of creative projects in the field of visual art and literature in 2019. Artists and writers who are prepared to create projects in an art residency in accordance with the terms of the competition are invited to take part. ABOUT THE MUSEUM RESIDENCE: The museum residency “Artkommunalka. Erofeev and Others captured the feel of the 60s of the Soviet Kolomna era, evoke the features of communal way of life and the Khrushchev thaw dissident esprit. The museum residency is situated at the very heart of the Old Town. Venedikt Erofeev the author of the poem “Moscow – Petushki” worked as a labourer in the wine section of the delicatessen shop Ogonyok in the sixties. This shop was situated at the same building where the museum residency is. In the sixties the writer was a student of Kolomna Pedagogical Institute. The recognised genius of Venedikt Erofeev’s creative freedom has become the master of the museum residency. Artkommunalka operates in the format of a residency for artists and writers who are creating new art and new literature right here, right now. Artkommunalka hosts educational classes, master classes, expert meetings, lectures by specialists and musical events – all of which fuse together around the creative people involved in the museum residency, generating a new and much-needed intellectual space for the modern inhabitants of the city. The art residency and literature residency work as an open funding laboratory and workshop all year round. The literature residency is, by its very nature, a laboratory of meanings – a “writer’s study” with the opportunity for face-to-face contact with the public and the residents of the city. The aim of the competition is to support the boldest and most radical creative proposals that are in keeping with the spirit and objectives of developing modern art and literature. TERMS OF THE COMPETITION Projects that meet the objectives of the competition will be accepted for consideration. Artistic and dramaturgic projects in the spirit of “the culture of participation” that involve the local community and different groups of people in the creative work and are realised, among other things, in Kolomna’s public spaces are particularly welcome.
